I am working as a Research Technician in the Myler Lab at the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR) as a part of the Protein Production Core branch of the Seattle Structural Genomics for Infectious Disease (SSGCID). My work consists of targeting proteins of interests from various pathogens for protein production and purification. We utilize a variety of chromatography techniques such as immobilized metal affinity, size exclusion, and many others. These proteins are then studied intensively through analytical techniques such as crystallography, small angle X-ray scattering techniques, and many others in order to characterize them. My current research is focused on the characterization of various types of tRNA synthetases from a variety of pathogens, which include Acinetobacter, Pseudomonas, and Stenotrophomonas.

I am working in the Myler Lab studying Leishmania. We use advanced techniques such as CRISPR and molecular cloning in order to investigate various protein functions and interactions with the Leishmania genome. In addition I am also a part of the Protien Production Core which is involved in expressing and purifying various proteins of interests for different people in the SSGCID pipeline. I was able to present my work with Leishmania at the annual Mary Gates Undergraduate Symposium at the University of Washington in May 2023.

I engaged in bioinformatics, bioethics, mathematics, and chemistry curriculum in preparation for an academic career in STEM. I was also in the HAMM Lab under Dr. Reigner, which explored techniques to treat heart failure. I helped to process data for transgenic mice and wild-type mice.
