My career in the trucking industry spans 45 years, beginning as an over-the-road truck driver. I have witnessed the massive transition in transportation technology from 2-cycle diesel engines and payphones to self-driving electric trucks that can be programmed over the air. My transition from driver to journalist was an interesting journey, and those previous experiences still serve me well. Guiding my readers through this evolution has been an absolute privilege. To me, the reader is the most important consideration when crafting a story. My greatest accomplishment is when a reader comes away saying, “I learned something from that.” It’s exciting to have so many more storytelling options today, from the printed page to video and podcasts you can engage with anywhere, anytime. I’m always looking for new stories to tell and new ways of conveying the message.
