Background: Interdisciplinary engineer with 5+ comprehensive years of research experience in four different labs, 3+ years of experience teaching collegiate-level CAD & coding, 7+ years of collaborating with STEAM educatorsProfessional Interests: Intersection between mechanics & human biology, ergonomics, neuromechanics, decision-making, enhancing educational curricula for makerspaces & computational thinkingDiversity, Equity, & Inclusion Advocacy:At Girls Who Code, I collaborate with K-12th grade education administrators to share coding curriculum that cultivates strengths-based culture and optimal communication amongst diverse people and creative ideas. Within my 1st year, I engaged with 400+ leaders at school districts, library networks, state DOEs, and non-profits to discuss strategies for inclusive Tech-Ed programming as early initiatives to close the gender gap in spaces of impactful leadership.Mentorship:I advocate for equitable opportunities by guiding folks who are navigating academic and career-building resources. As a teaching assistant, I customized complex academic content to ensure comprehension to 1st-year engineering students. This would contribute to collegiate retention by establishing a substantial foundation of design concepts. I have also partnered with engineering affinity groups and a Multicultural Greek Council to host professional development workshops. My outreach to diverse communities contributes to novelty by inviting better cultural representation, and thus new ideas and perspectives to STEM professions. Furthermore, I have partnered with OK/TX conference leaders (200+ attendees each) who aimed for visibility of diverse professionals and appeals for exemplary standards of cultural competency at large-scale institutions. I intend to continue establishing my commitment to making the engineer-to-be journey more attainable to all populations, and therefore, more welcoming for the next generation of ground-breaking innovators.Research:As an activistic engineer, I aspire to be a deliberately inclusive designer. I hope to cultivate resilience and purpose for all facets of identity by contributing to research that works to diversify human representation in ability. In pursuit of a PhD in BME, I am investigating the interplay of human movement and the decision-making process in clinical populations. I hope to contribute to healthcare paradigms such as in neurorehabilitation and sensory-conscious designs that propose better interventions for these folks to gain autonomy and improve their quality of life.
