About Trudy Willis
I fell in love with psychology during my very first intro course in undergraduate school and never looked back from the field in general. I enjoyed being a professional mentor to kids my first two years out of undergrad then moved on to the never dull world of social services and social work in child protective services for the ten and a half years. In 2009-2010 I rounded out my experience in the mental health/social services/counseling world by earning my master's degree in Counselor Education. I trained in ABC (Attachment and Bio-behavioral Catch-up) while still with DSS. I learned new skills and refined my clinical skills as an MST (multi-systemic therapy) family counselor at Youth Villages. Then I took some time off to spend time with my son before returning to the work force. I worked for about 6 months as a Licensing & Treatment Consultant for therapeutic foster care before realizing I was better suited for a strictly treatment role in foster care working with IAFT (Intensive Alternative Family Treatment) & Therapeutic Foster Care youth and their foster parents. Currently though I'm enjoying my role as Referral Specialist with RRFF and working as liason between referral sources for IAFT & TFC referrals and provider agencies to improve communication and placement outcomes. I have extensive training in treating trauma and hope to specialize in trauma treatment in the future!
