• AZYIP was funded by the National Science Foundation (Grant no. 943360412) and the Russell Sage Foundation (Grant no. 1905-15844).• AZYIP examined how rapidly changing economic, demographic, and political dynamics shape young adults’ political identities and political participation during the months leading up to and following the 2020 U.S. elections and amidst a global pandemic. o AZYIP utilized four waves of interviews with 300 young adults to examine (1) factors that affect young adult’s definition of who is American, (2) shape their sense of national identity and belonging, and (3) motivate them to engage civically and politically to support or challenge narrow conceptualizations of Americanism. This project also includes multiple survey waves with the same participants.• Conducted interviews via Zoom (1-1.5 hr), cleans interviews using SONIX Software, coded interviews using Dedoose, a Computer Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software (CAQDAS) and analyzed interview data.• Contributed to survey question development and the development of interview guides prior to the distribution of each wave. • Worked to synthesize project findings into final reports and scholarly publications.

• EAD is a multi-organizational cooperative project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the U.S. Department of Education, fulfilled by the non-profit iCivics and faculty from Arizona State University, Harvard University, and Tufts University.o Project aims to provide the diverse K-12 students in American schools with a strong sense of connection to and ownership of American democracy, and to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and capacities that they need to sustain a healthy, thriving republic.• Attended weekly virtual meetings with the Task Force Chairs, bi-weekly virtual meetings with the full Task Force, and other scheduled project meetings with the full EAD team.• Conducted research on K-12 U.S. history and social studies standards across states to understand variances in benchmarks across geographic regions.• Conducted research for the literature review which aligned with the directives and goal of the project.• Aided in the culminating project of a Roadmap to Educating for American Democracy which is an inquiry-based content framework for excellence in history and civics for all learners that is organized by major themes and questions, supported by key concepts. It is vertically spiraled across four grade bands (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12), and offers a vision for the integration of history and civic education throughout grades K–12.
