I teach art classes for people living with Alzheimer's and related dementias. As part of a vibrant, talented volunteer team, we see people spark to life when given an opportunity to sing, play dulcimers, tell stories, work with plants, and create art.For Banner Alzheimer's Institute, called "With Art in Mind", a program developed by Barbara Bagan at Ottawa University in Phoenix. For WHAM! (What's Happenin' Art Movement), called "Mindful Art" in Surprise, AZ, developed with colleague Annette Quinata. Provided field experience for Grand Canyon University nursing students.For SunTree Center in Phoenix, a day program filled with music, art, and adventures for all who attend. Providing field experience for National Honor’s high school and Grand Canyon University nursing students.

I lead this spiritual program with co-creator James H Barry called "The Path of Life" for elders (and all of us, really) to gain a lift of spirit by calling to mind, through music, photographs, and conversation:1) The "I" statements of God: "I am with you always"; 2) Our Mentors; 3) Stories of hope and integrity from our lives; and 4) 'Heaven' in our Memory-spend more time there! A great way to spend time in the company of a host of angels on earth.

Developed, taught, and hosted Boulder County Programs with up to 75 participants. Trained leaders and led support groups for caregivers and people with dementia statewide (100 groups). Researched, planned, and led programs for people with Younger Onset Alzheimer's (under age 65). Provided Qi Gong guided practices and musical experiences for groups of 25-35 monthly.

I had the pleasure of supporting and developing engaging exercise, music, and spiritual classes, and hosting a college class of writers who created written life histories for several grateful participants.

The Academy at Bella Vista is the proud recipient of the Alzheimer's Foundation of America "Excellence in Care" award for several years. It's a beautiful secured property with extensive gardens and stellar accommodations. In the first cadre of this new community, I provided exceptional service to residents, family members, and co-workers as a cross-trained associate. I assisted with all daily needs, administered medications, prepared meals, performed music shows, led exercise sessions, and co-hosted weekly social hours for family members and friends.

As part of this well-organized, effective company, I served clients in their homes who needed assistance with activities of daily living, meal preparation, housework, driving them on errands, doctor's visits, and outings for recreation.

Balfour Cherrywood Village is a 50-resident community for those with Alzheimer's and related dementias. I joined them as a private caregiver for a new resident and served under Lida Valencia as Life Enrichment Coordinator. We baked, we went out for tea, we exercised, we discussed spiritual matters. I facilitated "Memories in the Making" art classes, developing and hosting art shows for residents and their families. We made paper with lavender and pesto with basil from our own herb gardens. I brought my church choir to sing for special occasions, and brought in a Kindermusik class for children and their parents to connect with our elders.

I taught classes of 25-35 students and parents in two studios and in private and public preschools and classrooms for children with special needs. We sang, danced and grew together.When I moved to Colorado, I taught in a women's shelter, and hosted a class for children, parents, and elders in a retirement community.
