My classes and the attentive faculty members that I have had the privilege to meet with have encouraged undergraduates to get involved in research, and upon further investigation, I discovered a great interest in veterinary public health and food animal medicine. I find that these aspects of agriculture maintain the utmost importance for farmers and scientists alike. This dual importance motivates me to investigate and ultimately improve these two necessary factors of livestock production. While my background in agriculture is not extensive, I have been involved in dairy beef research in Dr. Gregory Habing’s research lab at The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, I completed an internship at a small animal clinic during the summer of 2020 that allowed me to gain experience working as a team while in a clinic setting. My large animal experience consists of a dairy herd management internship I completed in the summer of 2021. As stated, research is an important experience that I would like to gain throughout my educational journey. I am open to being away from home and moving to find the appropriate opportunity for myself and my studies. My interest in research will likely drive my future academic decisions due to its important role in accomplishing my goal of procuring a bridge between farmers and scientists.
