CurrentWhen I was growing up, video games became a huge part of life. But it wasn’t just the games, it was the experiences that developed around the game. In the last two decades, that experience has spread to hundreds of millions of people around the world who love games. Now, leading the way are esports; competitive video games capturing the hearts and minds of tens of millions of fans, elevating what used to be disregarded as a silly hobby to an industry on track to overtake traditional sports. But with all of the hype around the professional world, how do you sustain an industry that’s building what took traditional sports hundreds of years to develop in less than 5? You build the core. You build the ecosystem where professionals start: college. That’s what EGF does. Our responsibility is to provide the anchor for an industry that’s given so much to so many. We combine the best aspects of the NCAA and ESPN to bring esports programs to colleges around the world and train the next generation of esports professionals. My job is to lead an incredible team who live for gaming and the future of our industry.
