At Crafted Education, we believe success comes through educating people. ProductinScribe, from Crafted Education, connects students with communities of instruction to provide on demand, context specific interventions when and where students need them most. I am developing the inScribe application based on baseline requirements and leveraging highly iterative process, including gathering and applying customer feedback. It leverages React on front end, REST services written in Go on the back end, and is backed by Google’s Cloud Datastore.We released our alpha product early in 2016 and will be piloting delivery this summer. We are working with publishers, higher education institutions, and courseware providers to continue to refine our solution and end-state of our beta product. Our next step is to finalize our design partner group, targeted for June 2016. ConsultingAs a project-based consultant, I help organizations define and execute their education technology strategies by providing full stack planning, design, development, testing and delivery services. I use a practical, business-minded approach, offer flexibility to my clients with my ability to operate on the front and back ends, and always hold quality paramount. Currently designing a front end user experience using React and Sass.

OpenClassI led a team of 12 developers to create a dashboard entry point for all of Pearson’s digital assets, improving user experience and maximizing quality while meeting aggressive timelines. I mentored and coached team members, sequenced and delegated work, and removed roadblocks to ensure our milestones were met. The.front end AJAX applications utilized dojo.js on the client side and RESTful web services written in C# on the server..Next I worked with a team of 25 to rewrite eCollege’s core course platform from ground up in 9 months to create a platform that would be scalable with a growing user base. I led a “tiger team” to quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues as new customers were migrated onto the platform, which was comprised of Approximately 30 subsystems written in C#, and backed by Sql Server databases. As a result, the platform supported a total user base of several million, with peak use of over 50,000 concurrent users daily, and poised eCollege for Pearson acquisition.I was then appointed to a select team challenged with building a mobile website for the LMS within an 8-week timeframe; considering larger value add, we created an end-product that could be reused on a wide range of projects by Pearson and by external customers in only 6 weeks. RESTful web servicesAs a follow up to the .Next and .Next mobile app, I designed, developed, deployed, and monitored first RESTful web services, including authentication, authorization, and serialization to support the services, which have grown to over 10 million hits a day and cover 25 subsystems across the organization. To enable this growth, I simplified the testing of RESTful web services by creating an easy to use, open source project “Harvey,” which uses a declarative, JSON format to declare a request and the expected response.
