As a Black Access intern, I lead content development, run the social media pages for the programme, and create and deliver live events, both in person and online. I also sit on the advisory board, helping shape the future of the programme. Expanded the reach of program by reaching out to university leaders to create a Black community at York.

This work requires me to represent the university online in order to help prospective students make a more informed and confdent choice about their educational optionsHad conversations with prospective students to answer their questions and advise them on various topics about the Black Access and my experiences. On average, I was rated as ‘excellent’ by the prospective students I spoke to;Produced 19 social media posts which have been used by the Black Access in their public communications;Written 2 in-depth answers to frequently asked questions that have been approved by the Black Access and are shown to prospective studentsThis work has helped me to develop to following skillsInterpersonal and communication skills through the conversations I’ve had with prospective students as a representative of the Black Access;Customer service skills through the process of understanding the question I’m being asked and working to find the best answers I can for the prospective student. This may include doing research or working with the wider team of staff and Ambassadors;Marketing, creative and social media skills through the collaboratively working with the marketing department to create social posts for the Black Access;Written communication skills as all the work I did as an Ambassador through The Ambassador Platform involved written communications, some of which were public-facing;Organisation, planning and time management skills to be able to ft this additional work around my studies whilst being able to meet all deadlines;Teamwork and professional skills were required to work collaboratively both with staff at the Black Access and other Ambassadors.
