Lebanon And Syria

Half the time I spend in Southern Lebanon as a UN monitor and half the time I spend in Syria as a Deputy Team Leader. With the exception of some tasks related to team management in the latter, the tasks in both countries were similar: To observe and maintain the cease fire, and in case of violations, conduct special investigations and report findings back.

Working first as an analyst for and later as the commander of the Danish National Intelligence Cell in Bosnia-Herzegovina, I learned a great deal on intelligence gathering and analysis in an international enviroment.

As an assistant for one of the researcher working on the study of the Danish refugee policy during the period 1933 to 1945, I mainly worked in the national archive, selecting relevant cases for further investigation. Secondly, the task included systematic documentation of all related cases in a central database.

When not attending classes at Copenhagen University, I served as a reserve officer in the Battalion's staff of I/DLR and II/GHR. I had multiple roles, mainly working as liaison officer and Intelligence officer participating in numerous exercises in Denmark as well as in other NATO countries.

Mitrovicia, Kosovo

Officially I was designated as Forward Observer, but I served de facto as a liaison officer to the Albanian community in the Zvečan area as well as Intelligence Officer for the Danish Battalion.

One step up the ladder from Sergeant, I served partly as a platoon leader for a platoon of conscripts, partly as a forward observer for the Heavy Mortars in the HQ Company/I/DLR.

Doboj, Bosnia-Herzegovina

As an infantry squad leader, I served with the rest of the Danish Battalion in the NORDPOL Brigade maintaining the peace in the Doboj-area. Tasks were varied and included everything from disarming the local police force, confiscating weapons in the zone of seperation, monitoring the mujahedins, who had stayed in Bosnia-Herzgovina after the war etc.
