Tsipi Ben-Haim is the Founder, Executive & Creative Director of CITYarts, Inc., a non-profit public arts and education organization created in 1989 by Tsipi Ben-Haim after its predecessor, Cityarts Workshop, closed down in 1988. The archives of both organizations are held in the collection of the New York Historical Society. With a new name and a new mission as CITYarts, Inc., Tsipi Ben-Haim created a platform for the voices of our youth to be heard. Now, CITYarts operates five programs that bring youth together with professional artists to create public art in New York City and around the world with a focus aimed at the voices of our children and youth, empowering them to create murals and mosaic projects that activate their imagination and desire to transform communities and make a difference in the world.Through creativity, perseverance, and determination, she is largely responsible for the success of over 330 public art projects, including murals, mosaic, and sculptures, throughout the 5 boroughs of New York City and beyond. After 9/11, she created a program titled "Young Minds Build Bridges," which connects youth from different countries and cultures around the world and addresses civic and social issues like the struggle for Peace and combating the Speed of Climate Change. To date, CITYarts has impacted over 200,000 kids, collaborated with more than 600 artists, partnered with over 1,500 sponsors, and engaged over 500,000 volunteers, orchestrated workshops in over 100 countries and created 5 peace walls around the world.Tsipi holds a B.A. from Tel-Aviv University and a Master’s degree from New York University. Outside of her work with CITYarts, Tsipi is an accomplished poet, writer, public speaker, curator, and art critic for various magazines and foreign press outlets. As a curator, Tsipi organized several exhibitions, including the recent traveling CITYarts exhibition Pieces for Peace with Youth from Around the World, which was most recently exhibited in Crete & Athens in Greece and at the Saatchi Gallery in London, at the European Union Parliament in Brussels, and the U.N. headquarters in New York and Geneva, among other locations, with plans already underway for bringing the exhibition to Spain, Poland, Austria, Panama, and Hungary.
