I operated a basketball training service out of my backyard and local courts. I independently managed every aspect of business, including marketing through online forums and paper flyers, negotiating prices with athletes' parents, and planning + coaching all training sessions. Executing each lesson required dynamic thinking and action that responded to the mood and attitude of the student that day. I accumulated over 100 hours of improving my students' basketball skills, mental approaches, and their enjoyment for the game.

At this gap semester internship, I conducted an independent, multi-media design study on paver patterns, considering flow of traffic, wayfinding, and aesthetics. I also experimented Python scripting in Grasshopper to study its design implications as it relates to parametric scripting. Furthermore, I attended many studio design meetings and multi-firm collaborative meetings, developing an intuition for collaborative creative design. I also participated in a site visit of a multi-building biotech campus, learning how to facilitate productive collaboration between designers, architects, contractors, and the client.

Tutored 1-4 students at a time, from ages 5-15. Worked individually with a student from Taiwan to develop his English skills, utilizing Mandarin proficiency. Employed patience and creativity to effectively convey material to students.
