Ever since I was a small child, I have been fascinated by nature. How a tiny frog egg can develop from egg to tadpole to frog over the course of just a single summer, how minerals are formed in the ground deep underneath our feet or the millions of stars that light up the sky at night. Above all, I have always been very curious trying to understand why and how nature works the way it does. I started studying biology with the goal of becoming a field biologist, however, I was blown away the first time I learned how fast and efficiently bacteria can mutate and adapt to new conditions. Realizing how this gives us almost limitless possibilities to tinker with these systems for our own liking be it research or biotech, I knew I had to pursue this field further. I did my PhD at University of Copenhagen working with stress response and non-coding RNA of E. coli and continued to do four years as postdoc at Uppsala University, Sweden still working with bacterial RNA and RNA-binding proteins. By late 2023 I returned to Denmark to settle down with my two kids and my wife. I am still highly driven by my curiosity but also by trying to make the world a better place, for example by aiding in the green transition, by combating diseases or by producing beneficial biomolecules.
