Worked as a contracted reporter alongside journalists with The Associated Press' Global Investigations Team on the "Lethal Restraint" project, a national investigation into force that wasn't meant to kill.Responsibilities included:• Fact checked key details of all 1,036 deaths in the database, including the force officers used in each case. • Logged details of around two dozen cases that occurred in Arizona, California and New Mexico into the AP's internal death tracking database. • Filed around 250 public records requests across 22 states to vet potential cases for inclusion in AP's database. Documents sought included police and prosecutor reports and autopsy records. This work culminated with the addition of approximately 120 cases into the AP's database and death count. • Lead writer on the methodology story explaining to readers how AP investigated these deaths.• Reviewed more than 250 cases to determine whether officers broke any safety guidelines or best practices in their use of "less lethal" force, including with stun guns, leg restraints, pepper spray, prone positioning and spit hoods.

• Pitched and produced investigative and enterprise stories featured in The Salt Lake Tribune, The Arizona Republic, the Utah Investigative Journalism Project and other outlets. • Captured and edited news photos that were published with several stories.
