As Communications Manager of the team, my responsibilities include enhancing the organization's visibility, reputation, and engagement both internally and externally. Together with my sub-team of 4, we coordinate events, create and distribute promotional material, and manage all marketing-related activities. This includes ensuring consistent branding, managing team workwear, banners, and leaflets, while maintaining partnerships. I also oversee our online presence through social media platforms (Website, Instagram, LinkedIn), and ensure we are equipped to livestream launches and document our achievements.

I was hired by SMART department of Robotics and Mechatronics of Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Was given the role of Researcher / Teacher Assistant, and I am very grateful I had the opportunity to contribute to significant real-world challenges using state of the art technologies. I contributed to two big projects, the first regarding the user requirements for technical solutions towards Beaver management and protection. The later, regarding the development of an AI-based insect detection system, more particularly focused on the detection of the Oak Processionary Caterpillar.My role allowed me to dive into the ins and outs of developing a custom AI, and through this first-hand experience I learned a lot about the challenges and successes one might come across. From custom data collection, to data annotation, augmentation, training, and deployment I became more familiar with the software side of AI, but also the hardware side. As I experienced first-hand the need for high quality hardware, including state of the art cameras for data collection, and big servers that can boost computational power.AI-based insect detection has many use cases in environmental pest management, agriculture, and healthcare safety from insect-borne diseases. I’m excited to carry forward the experience and insights collected at Saxion as I hopefully dive into my bachelor thesis on AI-based insect detection in February.This experience has been invaluable, building my skills in AI-driven solutions for environmental applications.
