Worked on DCF for top coal producing companies domestically particularly in Illinois Basin and Powder River Basin. Furthermore, I worked on the coal generation and the pricing side of the electricity market. Created and ran models to see how much coal these mines are producing as well as transportation metrics from rail and barges for domestic and international use. Went to Lexington, Kentucky to get first hand experience and insights from coal mining companies. Worked on various sources of energy generation for the electrical markets such as: Wind, Solar, Natural Gas. Built a forecasting model from US port data to see how much renewables would come online and how that would affect the electricity market from a trading standpoint.Worked on Carbon Allowance Auctions program for Washington State and California. Went through the legislation to determine the amount of all allowances and how that will affect the market. Furthermore, I went through the auction data and collected data on the importance of traders getting into the market for liquidity purposes as well as risk warehouses for large emissions producers. Provided a coal update for the trading desk when new fundamental information became available that could alter the market. Built a weather model to predict the number of cool degree days for the various power markets that updated automatically.
