During my internship at Sunoco LP, I had the privilege of working closely with a dedicated and driven Finance team. This experience provided me with valuable insights and hands-on exposure to several crucial aspects of Finance.Data Restructuring and Automation:One of the primary challenges we faced was data quality. To address this, I aided in data restructuring and automation. Leveraging my technical background, I utilized tools such as Python, Excel VBA, PowerBI, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps to streamline our processes. My proficiency in Excel VBA allowed me to automate time-consuming tasks, freeing up valuable resources while enhancing our data analysis capabilities. Additionally, I explored Python application hosting on DevOps pipelines, which proved instrumental in automating monthly reporting processes.Database Enhancement:A significant milestone in my internship was taking on the challenge of reorganizing and updating our IBM Cognos TM1 database. As a Kroger Associate, I was responsible for processing mobile orders and fielding customer complaints/issues relating to those orders. I worked on average 24 hours per week (three 8-hour shifts) but this often ranged from 16hrs to 48hrs per week. Why is this relevant experience? Even though I worked for a grocery company, my customer service experience relates to all fields. I have experience fielding issues, questions, comments, and concerns from customers, and I am more than capable of handling any issues in a calm, controlled, and respectful manner.

How is sports officiating relevant to any professional industry? Through its lessons in composure, multitasking, confidence, and even customer service. Not only are referees required to keep a cool head when dealing with upset players, coaches, and spectators, but they often have to address issues while the game is actively going on. The ability to complete a task while mediating conflict is a valuable skill that goes far beyond the soccer field. Addressing spectators with respect, confidence, and kindness helped to dissolve potential conflict and kept customers happy. Furthermore, referees are required to be steadfast and firm in their decisions; the ability to decisively pick a course of action is increasingly valuable in a growingly indecisive field of potential employees.
