Aeromechanics/Thermal Design Lead
Current• Introduced Jira software to the department and created customized workflows for optimized workload and schedule management, inspired by Agile Development methods• Arranged regular planning, one-on-one and retrospective weekly meeting schedules to manage workload and solve team member problems quickly• Coordinated individual numerical validation efforts to standardize the analysis workflows into procedural guide documents• Laid the groundwork for 1D CFD (Flomaster) and open-source CFD (SU2, OpenFoam) analysis capabilities of the team in terms of trainings and project integration• Co-developed a faster approach for the conjugate heat transfer analyses of seeker missiles flying in high supersonic regime• Executed a point role in the Flight Sciences part of the FAR Part 25 certification process of a modified business jet aircraft
Snr. Expert Aerodynamicist
• Executed optimization studies of external fairing design and placements on several rotary-wing and fixed-wing AC from aerodynamics and stability point-of-viewo The studies for mainly consist of numerical aerodynamics without experimental aerodynamic involvement due to the extent of modifications on the AC.o The department consists of other several disciplines such as structural design and analysis, wiring design, thermal management, EMI/EMC, RF Performance and flight test engineering. (similar to a small aircraft modification company) External fairing design and placement on a mission aircraft requires teamwork and an efficient optimized workflow between these departments as well as aerodynamics and stability.o As optimization studies for external fairing & placement designs require not only aerodynamics knowledge, but aircraft stability as well, aerodynamic derivatives (both static and dynamic) were of use during these studies.o Propulsion knowledge is also utilized in numerical aerodynamics analyses, as modeling the engine flowfield (jet or propeller) as an important effect on the aircraft flowfield. Blade Element Theory and simple turbine engine modeling (Mattingly) were utilized for this purpose.o Apart from projects related to F-16 and G6000 aircraft, certification processes for modified aircraft were completed successfully with non-civil authorities.• Introduced the capability of performing ice accretion analyses to the department and simulated the accreted ice shapes on the modified fairings integrated on UH-60, CN235 and CL605 aircraft• Pioneered the coupling method of a thermal CFD model and an external aerodynamics model of missile seekers to include high speed aerodynamic heating effects into thermal analyses• Accomplished the validation of the CFD model of F-16 AC with pylons and stores, making use of drag index values found in flight manuals, wind tunnel results found in literature as well as reference store separation cases
Part-Time Engineer
• Worked part-time on the propulsion system and flight testing of an experimental VTOL Tailsitter UAV • Had a test-stand manufactured for the measurement of thrust and power of different electric motor/propeller combinations • Participated on flight test activities and rebuilt the UAV after unsuccessful flight tests
