Tui Ruwhiu is an alumnus of the EAVE Producers Workshop and the Rotterdam Producers Lab. He has trained as a script editor through the New Zealand Film Commission's First Feature Film Lab with script consultant and writer Keith Thompson (The Sapphires, Clubland), the Script to Screen FilmUp mentorship program with script consultant Brita McVeigh, and the Script Factory Foundation Script Development Workshop. From 2010 - 2012 Tui was Executive Producer for the New Zealand Film Commission's Premiere Shorts high-end short film fund, overseeing four short films that went on to international success. In 2013 he produced the short film Pumanawa: the Gift, which was selected for the Hawaii, Fort Lauderdale, New Zealand, and Drama international film festivals, among others. Tui comes from a long background in factual and entertainment programming as a writer, director, producer and executive producer. He also spent seven years as managing director of a marketing communications company providing strategic and tactical marketing communications services to a range of large corporations and small businesses across a number of sectors. Together with his writer/producer colleague, Tui has a slate of films and TV drama series in a variety of genres. Tui is a graduate of the Sendagaya Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo, Japan where he spent three years studying written and spoken Japanese.Tauihu Media Ltd is a story-driven multimedia business delivering content on screen, on the page, online, and on show. Tauihu Media has five feature films and a TV drama series in various stages of development on its slate.

Tauihu Shorts is one of three Executive Producer PODs contracted by the New Zealand Film Commission to oversee the Short FIlm Fund's Premiere Shorts fund for the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 years. Tauihu Shorts is contracted to call for applications, assess, and ultimately greenlight two short films each year with budgets of approx. NZ$90,000 per film.

Managed a team of producers, directors and production staff producing Inflight Entertainment for Air New Zealand, Continental Airlines, and Continental Micronesia, as well as corporate productions and consultancy for a range of large and small NZ companies, and international IFE giant Matsushita Avionics Systems. Gained significant experience in programme acquisition and programming for IFE channels, working with international distributors such as the BBC, Discovery, E Enterntainment, Dreamworks, and others.

Working with Reuters New Business Development Manager, I established the Japanese arm of Reuter TV2000, a closed network satellite service operating out of New York and delivering financial television to U.S. buy-side fund managers.

Starting as a production assistant, I was soon writing, directing and producing for TV shows and a range of corporate productions. Established as producer TV XTRA, New Zealand's first pay television service, produced on behalf of Lion Nathan and distributed through their network of hotels nationwide. Also programmed and produced Air NZ's inflight ententainment programme, Pacific Way.

Topco International provided location coordination and line producing services for Japanese film production companies shooting television commercials in New Zealand. As a location coordinator and line producer, responsible for handling all on-ground production activity for clients, from location scouting, casting, and equipment, transport and production staff booking to shoot management.
