I am a senior at Cal State LA who is looking for roles in the clinical psychology field. As a psychology major, I am concerned by the mental health disparities of marginalized communities, especially BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. Why do social factors like race, gender, and class impact people's mental health? How do these social factors intersect and create distinct experiences for individuals?As such, I have taken a handful of courses that dive into how biological, psychological, and social factors affect one's experience and have interned with a local non-profit organization. Now, I want to put these experiences to good use by teaching future clients how to cope and navigate their lives with their unique mental health struggles.
