About Turan Can Memis

In 2013, I began my professional career at Bogazici Electricity Distribution Company (BEDAS). During my time there, I gained extensive experience in various areas, including:Protection Coordination: I was responsible for conducting protection coordination studies and determining protection relay settings for the medium voltage distribution networks on the European side of Istanbul. This involved analyzing the networks and identifying potential issues or faults, then setting the appropriate relay settings to ensure the network was properly protected.SCADA: I also worked on commissioning 1200 substations for integration with the SCADA system. This involved preparing technical documentation based on the solution, such as signal and equipment lists and technical specifications. I also ensured that the substations were properly integrated with the SCADA system.Grid Management: I was responsible for managing the grid by performing optimum switching operations, load management, and capacitor and reactor switching on 41 Transmission (TEIAS) substations and 700 medium voltage distribution feeders for a peak demand of 5400 MW. This involved ensuring that the grid was properly managed to prevent overloading and to maintain a stable supply of electricity to consumers.Power Quality: I provided technical quality parameters, such as Sag/Swell and harmonics, within the scope of EMRA regulations. This involved ensuring that the electricity being supplied to consumers met the required quality standards set by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).Diagnostic Tests: Finally, I conducted condition and commissioning tests, such as VLF, PD, and TanDelta tests, on XLPE underground cables. This involved using specialized equipment and techniques to test the cables and ensure they were functioning properly.
