Many of the same responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer role but also includes helping to lead the DevOps team and our technical road map. Also of note I partook in a panel discussion on how Harvard secures the cloud at the 2019 Harvard IT Summit.

HBSOnline (formerly HBX) is the digital learning initiative of Harvard Business School. My position of Infrastructure Engineer has provided me the opportunity to focus on the DevOps discipline. In the position I have had the opportunity to directly impact the services for internal and external customers through helping to build and improve systems and processes. There are a lot of projects and technologies that we are working on at any given moment. A few examples of projects I've worked on are:- Migrated and upgraded the systems support internal atlassian tools such as jira, confluence and bitbucket. - Architected a redundant email relay system replacing several different relay servers. - Built the server infrastructure powering the onboarding process for HBX Live- Lead the effort to install and configure Splunk on our server footprint. - Spearheaded the migration from Puppet to Ansible for the course platform product.- Built scripted deployments through using Ansible and AWS services.- Built a secured SFTP system.- Conducted a number of brown bags for the tech teams. - Help support the multi-media team server needs.Some notable experiences were being nominated for the 2018 Harvard Hero award. Nominees are nominated by colleagues. I also presented the talk "Running with Unicorns, how HBX automated provisioning and deployments" at the 2018 Ansible Fest and the 2018 Harvard IT Summit.

Recently promoted to Senior System Administrator. Addgene is my first experience working as the sole IT resource for a company. In my role as System Administrator I am responsible for all IT related technical needs of Addgene from from hosted production servers to specialized systems support Addgene’s lab. The position forces me to wear several different hats in the course of the day, from being a helpful helpdesk person to planning the road forward to best support Addgene’s technical needs. While at Addgene I have planned, lead and accomplished a number of large projects which have had a noticeable positive impact. - Architected and built a new production infrastructure. Server environments consisted of applications such as apache, python, mysql, elastic search. - Deployed a number of VMWare servers supporting server instances for a variety of purposes, - - including production web servers. - Replaced 90% of the Windows desktop environment with new Windows systems. - Deployed and administer a Trend Micro Anti Virus server.- Introduced and utilize Ansible in support of our development, staging and production servers.- Deployed Addgene’s first VPN service for employee use- Created a number of how-to step by step guides for a variety of tasks such as using vpn.- Deployed log aggregation and monitoring servers (logstash/icinga).- Replaced specialized Windows systems supporting our lab.- Deployed a second Windows AD server.- Replaced a poorly performing router with a SonicWall NSA220- Deployed a DIY Access Point solution to improve WiFi coverage in the office. - Perform regular IT helpdesk duties. - Successfully work with vendors and partners. - Designed, built and deployed a comprehensive backup strategy for Addgene production stacks. - Currently building a DIY CDN using proxy caching servers and a GeoDNS service.

While at Care I have had the opportunity to see the company more than quadruple the number of employees and be part of helping to institute IT solutions to accommodate the growth of the company. At the start at Care.com our IT staff was very small and required us to be “jacks of all trades”, responsible for everything from deploying a release to setting up new hires with tools, we had to do it all. As the team has grown there is still a variety of responsibilities however due to the growth, specializations is required. In the last year I have been the primarily point person on all telecommunication needs from wireless needs, trunk lines, VoIP, to managing the cloud based call center service we use while regularly supporting the helpdesk.

When I returned to Gotuit on contract I have been responsible for 30+ linux Red Hat/CentOS servers and 15+ Windows 2003 servers in support of Gotuit's office, development, staging and production environments. Add to this responsibility aiding in the management and configuration Gotuit's footprint in the Amazon Cloud using Rightscale.

As a Production Support Engineer I was able to continue expanding my knowledge and ability in technical areas of streaming media and systems administration. On a day to day basis I was responsible for supporting Gotuit's systems and co-location footprint, release engineering, 24x7 support, and other various tasks.

The Technical Producer position is a mufti-faceted role incorporating management of projects, administration of computer and video networks, video editing and compositing work, technical support of Gotuit’s cable VOD and web products. This role provided an amazing opportunity to learn the SA cable VOD environment as well as CDN methods for web media streaming. In addition I was able to continually improve and expand my skill set in utilizing new technologies to improve the distribution of video across multiple platforms while improving the viewing experience.

As a multi-media\DVD technician responsibilities include replicating DVDs, CDs and other forms of digital media. In addition to repli-cation responsibilities also included authoring of DVDs, encoding of media to mpeg 2, mpeg 1 and other digital video files, director projects, NLE editing, digital audio and video manipulation and restoration, and a wide variety of client projects. On a daily basis projects have a wide variety of variables requiring very close attention to details and brief turn around times.

As a production technician, responsibilities include producing copies on various professional formats of audio-visual media as well as mass production consumer media, mastering audio and video, performing fiber feeds.

As IT Administrator I was responsible for all computer and phone systems. This included such aspects as management NT servers, windows and Mac workstations (including Avid systems), purchasing of computers and internet/telephone services. Additional re-sponsibility included aiding the web design group in web site deployment, creation and streaming of media for PBS documentaries produced by Blackside.
