As CEO and Founder of Bricks Up, I have built the foundations of a strong and successful website delivering high-quality, in-depth LEGO news, rumours and updates to the LEGO community. I lead our mission to be the foremost authority in LEGO news and insights, setting a strong strategic vision to build a vibrant community. The role has required me to take on and develop new skills from designing and publishing a fully working website, to improving the SEO of Bricks Up, to connecting with fans and the LEGO community, and to finally writing the latest news and rumours on a daily occurrence. I've massively relished and enjoyed the opportunity of owning and operating a website within one of the most vibrant and fun communities.Since founding Bricks Up in 2021, I have successfully launched and grown the platform, driving significant audience engagement and forging valuable industry connections. In the year 2023 alone, the website had over 600,000 post views and later in 2024 won Best Online Specialist Toy Newsletter 2024 - UK. My continued focus and motivation is on innovation and staying ahead of market trends to ensure the website's content remains relevant, exciting and engaging for the global LEGO community.

The job often requires stacking shelves and putting out the latest stock in the correct, properly displayed, place. Sometimes greater customer interaction and guidance is required, particularly when working on the kiosk and tills.I've worked as part of a diverse and motivated team of colleagues who strive to attract and delight new and existing customers every day, supporting the ongoing growth and evolution of our business. During my micro-placement with the University of Suffolk’s Apprenticeships Team, I gained hands-on experience in apprenticeship program management and compliance. I was responsible for updating and maintaining apprenticeship records using the APTEM platform, supporting the onboarding process for new apprentices, and assisting with various compliance tasks. I also attended meetings focused on apprenticeship progress and risk management, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders. This role allowed me to develop my communication, organisational, and data management skills while gaining an in-depth understanding of apprenticeship regulations and wider university life.

At We Are The News, I played a key role in shaping content for an emerging online platform dedicated to delivering balanced news coverage. As a content contributor, I was able to leverage my writing skills and explore my passion for journalism within a dynamic and supportive remote work environment. I mainly focused on topics relating to business and finance, exploring the latest trends, marketing campaigns and leadership changes from global organisations. This enhanced my knowledge of the business world, allowing me to delve into different perspectives whilst adapting my writing style and aligning with my work on my university course.This role provided a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven startup, where I honed my content creation skills while supporting a platform committed to fostering free speech and combating cancel culture.

At Hopentic Limited, I expanded my coverage and knowledge of the brick-building LEGO world by covering the latest news and rumours covering the Danish company's plastic bricks on their LEGO website Brick Release. As a recently established website, it was important I helped them, and their talented group of writers, continue to reach as much of the ever-expanding LEGO community as much as possible. Brick Release articles involved a much more in-depth and personal viewpoint compared to the news articles I wrote and continued to write for Bricks Up. This had many challenges but also allowed me to adapt my writing style, cover different topics, provide my own opinion and try new things as I continued to cover one of my main hobbies and interests. At Brick Release, I continued to cement myself in both the LEGO and journalism communities with the help and ideas of a brand new team and group of excellent writers. Even though the experience was shortlived, I am grateful of the opportunity and experience gained, particularly in regards of working as a team remotely and continuously generating new ideas on what articles to write and how to get more view and LEGO fans engaged with the growing Brick Release website.

As an IT Support Assistant, I ensured that IT equipment was accessible and sufficient to those in education. This largely involved checking the integrity of technological equipment such as monitors, keyboards, mice and projectors. If problems occurred, it was my duty to replace them and report any issues, replacements and damages to my line manager. Overall, the role was a great learning experience where I was able to expand my IT knowledge and fix common problems that occur in all workplaces whilst ensuring the efficient running of classrooms and PCs for students.
