About Brett Turner
At a time when the climate and energy markets are changing faster than ever, data becomes paramount. As someone with 17+ years in the energy market, I understand that more than ever. Data and energy markets drive each other in ways never seen before; transforming that data into useful information is my passion. I studied physics at the University of Colorado Boulder, which gave me the foundation for strong analytical and problem-solving skills.I’ve been working at Yes Energy LLC for the past 11 years, helping their clients better understand the energy markets by building reliable data pipelines and conducting analysis to help maximize efficiency for power systems. I have strong SQL skills focused largely in Oracle, but over the past four years, I have also gained experience in Snowflake. I have used Python to help construct some aspects of ETL pipelines and R for data analysis. Some of my favorite projects have been studying the relationship between transmission outages and congestion, the effects of the solar eclipse on the power grid, and creating a robust method to process FTR auction results. Lately, one of my biggest focuses has been on data quality. I have created a method to use metadata to dynamically validate data from raw sources and alert for anomalies. Working with Yes Energy has driven me to understand that the Energy Switch is the next evolution of the grid. Before Yes Energy, I worked on the Velocity Suite product (currently owned by Hitachi Energy) for nearly 6 years. That is where I discovered my interest in energy markets as a gas pipeline data analyst, which gave me the foundation for databases, data analysis, and creating new data products. My dedication is the intersection of data and energy markets. I strive to improve the world by leveraging my experience to help build a more sustainable world.
Listed skills include Commodity Markets, Regular Expressions, Gas, Debugging, and 24 others.
