Selected by Principal as the lead educator to expand the first-grade class due to leveling. “Harllee Magic” promotes all adults in the building to build strong relationship with healthy social-emotional interactions that ultimately yield academic achievement and personal actualization beyond our wildest dreams. I currently lead, facilitate, and teach: morning meetings, read alouds, small group guided reading sessions, small math group session, small writing groups both in small group pull-out and whole class lesson execution. Supplemental Curriculum and coaching includes: Settle Your Glitter (Momentous Institute) and MMCI-CLASS Observations/Coaching (Teachstone).

Greater Philadelphia Area

Selected by members of National Institute team to facilitate DEI sessions that are integral in building Corps Members’ abilities to build strong, authentic relationships across lines of difference to reach outcomes with students. Led Extension Space and Reflection Spaces in collaboration with summer staff co-facilitators. Led and facilitated conversations centering the intersections of race, class, gender – dialoging how they directly and indirectly students, communities, and the larger education space. Conducted regular and collaborative coaching with Corp Members and small groups of staff to ensure DEI/Observation alignment. Managed and executed varied work activities that ranged from programming, observations of Corp Member classrooms that integrated reflection in their pedagogical practice, and supported the socio-political orienting of staff, Corps Members, and other stakeholders toward understanding DEI and how it is necessary to have an effective teaching practice.

Greater Philadelphia Area

Selected by members of National Institute team to manage and coach DEI facilitators through Teach for America’s national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness (DEI) curriculum during the spring and summer. Instructed and managed classes as big as 35 students. Facilitated morning meetings, read alouds, small group guided reading sessions, small math group session, small writing groups, both, in small group pull-out and whole class lesson execution. Selected by the DFW Regional Institute staff as one of 10 facilitators that healthily led corps members through an amended version of Teach for America’s national Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion curriculum. Co-led and facilitated conversations the centered the intersections of race, class, gender, and other societal ills and how the directly and indirectly impact the work tasked by educators. Served as Project Lead for Maximize the Moment: Service and Community Building, a service project that introduced corps members to the community through service, brunch, and panel discussion by the Hip Hop Book Club.

Placement: Uplift Peak Elementary. Selected by the National Recruitment Team as one of 85 inaugural cohort members determined to change the face of “urban education” in Dallas. Completed 20+ hours of graduate school coursework through Johns Hopkins University. Facilitated morning meetings, read alouds, small group guided reading sessions, small math group session, small writing groups, both, in small group pull-out and whole class lesson execution.

Selected by City Year: Chicago as one of 145 corps members dedicated to 10 months of service by promoting democracy through civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, and service learning.
