After three years in technical roles, he became a Certified Brewmaster from the Versuchs- und Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) e.V. He furthered his education with an Executive Education from Babson College in Boston, and returned to PureMalt in 2014 to lead the company's first business systems implementation.His work with systems gave him insights into product costing and customer-product profitability, enabling him to lead the Sales team through a period of significant growth from 2015 to 2020, achieving a 54% increase in revenue and doubling profits.Ross joined the PureMalt Board of Directors in 2017 and has been on a continuous leadership journey since. In late 2023, he obtained the Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors. He was appointed Managing Director of PureMalt in January 2024, succeeding his father Bruce, who had held the position for fifty-two years.

During my time in this position, we grew top line sales by 54% from £12.4M to £19.1M and doubled pre-tax profits from £1.8M to £3.7M. We expanded our network of Channel Partners with the addition of 14 new distributors and increased our global outreach selling to an additonal 27 countries. The team won 'Export Team of the Year' and 'Emerging Markets Exporter of the Year' at the 2018 Scottish Export Awards.
