Work with landowners and operators on engineering problems in connection with investigating, determining feasibility, preparing cost estimates, planning and designing, and installing conservation practices.Provides engineering guidance in the designing and application of conservation practices relating to water quality, quantity, delivery to land owners, municipalities, irrigation districts, etc.Reviews the engineering work designed and applied by other field office staff to assure that technical requirements of USDA, NRCS and the National Engineering Handbook standards are met.Prepares, develops and revises technical engineering materials as necessary.Provides technical guidance relating to standards and specifications as related to the Environmental Quality Incentive Program, Wetland Reserve Program (and other programs) and recommends certification.Works with landowners and field office staff to provide technical assistance through inventory and evaluation, development of engineering designs and construction inspection for conservation practices.

Project Procurement – Perform marketing and act as point of contact for incoming structural or architectural consulting requests. develop estimates and contracts for departmental projects. Project Management – Responsible for budget control and client satisfaction. Meet with clients, contractors, other design professionals and agencies as necessary to coordinate scope of work and project implementation. Prepare and approve project invoicing.Deliverable Preparation – develop calculations, plans, details and specifications. In responsible charge of work performed including stamping and signing all prepared engineering documentation.Quality Control / Peer Review – Provide departmental peer reviews for plans, calculations, reports and technical documents per QC protocol. Review and approve shop drawings and truss calculations.Supervisory – Supervise, train and mentor technicians and subordinates. Delegate job tasks to subordinates. Coordinate and lead department meetings.

Taught two sections of CIVL 312 - structural testing laboratory. Prepared and delivered lectures to explain and augment the weekly laboratory exercise. Supervised students through each experiment.

Prepared construction documents for large transportation and conveyance projects. Performed job site inspections and observations.

Worked as an intern (part-time during school and full-time through summers) from April 2003 through June 2004. Produced structural calculations and plans for small residential and commercial projects. Hired full-time after graduation (June 2004) into the civil department. Developed construction documents (grading plans, profiles, underground plans, specifications) and hydrology reports for land development projects.

Worked as an intern through the summer collecting topographic data and creating digital terrain models (DTMs) for Hwy 89 from Truckee to South Lake Tahoe. Additionally, provided construction staking support for several projects in the Sacramento area. Acquired skills and knowledge of surveying practices and techniques common to Cal-Trans. Performed essential surveying functions such as control setting, data collection and staking.

Worked as an intern through the summer performing construction management tasks (inspections, take-offs, reports) for a large recycle / rehab project on Hwy 20. Observed and learned a great deal about roadway construction and traffic safety.
