Product Engineering Intern
During my 10-month internship at Kacific Broadband Satellites Group, I engaged in multiple phases of product engineering, starting with the development of an IoT box for agricultural applications. I led this project, creating a device with sensors for GPS, air quality, temperature, and wind speed to collect real-time data. I implemented LoRaWAN communication protocols for seamless data transmission from remote agricultural sites to centralized systems. I also developed a Grafana dashboard for data visualization, providing insights to improve agricultural productivity. This experience enhanced my skills in mechanics, CAD, prototyping, and electronics, using Autodesk Fusion 360, Arduino IDE, and Python.Next, I worked on enhancing Kacific's Comms Box. I collaborated with cross-functional teams to design a smaller, more energy-efficient version of the Comms Box. This involved conducting market research to identify trends and technological advancements in satellite communication. I worked with engineers to translate these ideas into practical design specifications, focusing on power efficiency, scalability, and environmental impact. I also engaged in rapid prototyping to test and validate our concepts, ensuring the final product was both functional and efficient.Additionally, I documented the ideation process, capturing insights for future reference, and assessed competitors' products to identify areas for improvement. This internship provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle in satellite communication technologies, integrating technical knowledge with practical applications. It sharpened my problem-solving and project management skills and highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in engineering.
