I am currently working as a columnist for Beaver’s Digest, the student-run lifestyle magazine at Oregon State University! I am so excited about this opportunity to write about the day-to-day experiences at my university and share them with the students. For the past two years I have been employed by Coffee Corral, an on-campus coffee shop at Oregon State University. As well as being able to handle all components of the job- food preparation, drink making, and customer service, I am also employed as a trainer for the business. I am in charge of ordering, I prepare presentations for the employees, and I train new employees. This position has taught me so much about leadership and taking initiative, no matter what type of work I am doing.

I had a term-long internship at one of the oldest running literary magazines in America, CALYX Press. I worked in archives and research, looking through their vast collection of old magazines and compiling every international submission for their 50th anniversary. I learned so much about detail-oriented work, time management, working on spreadsheets, written communications, completing work by deadlines, and keeping information organized.

From July to September 2023, and then again during the month of December, I was employed at Buttercloud Bakery in Medford, Oregon.I worked as both a barista and a runner, in a very technical and fast-paced work environment.The work was very technical and professional. I was able to learn a great dealI learned a lot about cohesive teamwork, delegation of authority, how to best deal with customers, how to navigate rushes and stressful points in the shift, and how to be a more efficient employee.

During the summer of 2021, I was an administrative assistant at the Dermatology and Laser Associates of Medford. I was initially brought on to help transfer all their old files onto their new online systems, which took up most of the summer.I also helped with rearranging, gathering, and transferring files, along with whatever else needed to be done around the office. I also helped schedule future appointments and was able to gain the experience of working in a professional setting.I left due to scheduling conflicts regarding my education.

I was living in the Rogue Valley during the events of the Alameda Fire that ravaged my hometown and the surrounding areas.During this time, my family and our church banded together to help displaced families by finding local resources for them, arranging places to stay, getting them food and child care.I felt very lucky to have this opportunity to connect and give help to people who had lost everything in the fire. I would love the opportunity going forward to help more people on a volunteer basis.

I was a Volunteer Assistant Librarian for the Jackson County Library Services, in the Ashland Branch from May 2016 to September 2016.I was placed in the Children's Fiction section, and I was asked to help people find books they'd enjoy and assist the Head Librarians.I helped during the Children's Summer Reading Program that was hosted at the Ashland Library. During this time, I helped to schedule and set up events, talked to the people involved or performing, and kept the books the children had read and submitted in order.
