About Twaambo Mainde
With over 12 years of work experience in the social sector, I am passionate about improving the welfare and development in Zambia. I have a master's degree in international development from the University of Canberra, and a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Zambia. I have extensive knowledge and skills in policy and regulation, chiefdom development, budgeting, and dispute resolution. I currently work as a Social Welfare Officer at the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS), where I facilitate the travels, health, and participation of chiefs in government issues. I also disseminate policy guidelines and identify economic development activities in various chiefdoms. I am motivated by the vision of MCDSS to create a society where all people are empowered and have access to social protection and sustainable livelihoods. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as I have worked with different stakeholders, such as the government, the chiefs, the civil society, and the international community. Before joining MCDSS, I worked as a Chief Affairs Officer at the Government of Zambia for 10 years, where I was responsible for overseeing the welfare and affairs of all the chiefs in the country. I managed a team of 15 staff and coordinated with other departments and ministries to ensure the smooth implementation of the Chiefs Act and other policies. I also handled chiefdom disputes, succession issues, and boundary conflicts, using my skills in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution. I was involved in several projects and initiatives that aimed to enhance the development and governance of the chiefdoms, such as the Chiefdom Development Fund, the Traditional Leaders Capacity Building Program, and the Chiefdom Governance Assessment Tool. I also partnered with several international organizations, such as the International Justice Mission, the World Bank, and the United Nations, to support the protection and empowerment of vulnerable groups, such as women, children, and victims of human trafficking. I was recognized for my outstanding performance and contribution to the social sector with multiple awards and honors, such as the Presidential Merit Award, the Social Worker of the Year Award, and the Chiefdom Development Champion Award.
