I have been a business and environmental consultant since 1977, working throughout the United States, and in Canada and East Europe. My career started in air quality and industrial hygiene, but has included soils and groundwater investigations, remediation, industrial compliance, hazard mitigation planning, brownfield redevelopment and restoration, policy development, and redevelopment incentives (grants, loans, tax increment financing, tax credits, and layered capital stacks).I am the owner and co-founder of the national environmental consulting company ASTI Environmental (Applied Science & Technology, Inc.). In addition to conducting or managing over 11,000 environmental projects as President of ASTI, I have developed facilitation, decision making, and policy development tools for municipalities and business. I am also a real estate developer and work extensively with other developers to obtain gap financing for urban restoration and construction projects. I am the author of the genofictional novel "As Far As I Know...And Maybe a Little Bit More", and the market study series titled "Michigan Real Estate Trends Report" for 2013 to 2015.I was a part-time faculty member at Wayne State University from 1990 to 2012, and have guest lectured at the University of Michigan Business School, the University of Detroit Law School, Ave Maria University Law School, and the ICSC University of Shopping Centers at Wharton, as well as giving presentations at the National Brownfield Conference, and the National Urban Land Institute Conference. I have conducted training for the BLM over a number of years under contract with the Department of the Interior.
