Helped promote the wider adoption of Kotlin within Walmart. The omnichannel team adopted Kotlin for all new development shortly after I joined the organization. I wrote a guide on code style and best practices and included tooling like "ktlint" for improved code quality.Authored a new internal framework to unify the barcode scanner functionality across Walmart’s Android app. This improved both code quality and the end-user experience. • Simple Finance
    Lead Android Engineer
    Simple Finance Aug 2012 - Feb 2017
    Portland, Us
As the first Android engineer, I led the development of Simple's product for Android. The foundation we built served us well in the following years as the product increased in size and complexity. We grew the team to eight Android engineers during my tenure.Later, I became lead engineer on the first cross-functional product engineering team at Simple. I went on to lead the engineering effort for the integration of Plaid’s account linking solution into our mobile and web applications. Following that, I was lead on a small team that integrated two-factor authentication into our mobile and web sign-in flow.Simple had a large microservices infrastructure supporting the client applications. Much of our work involved integrating with these backend services via REST APIs. We used libraries like OkHttp, Retrofit, Moshi, and Google’s AutoValue to make these integrations easier and reduce the amount of boilerplate code required.Features I was directly responsible for:- Transaction History- Transaction Search- Support Messaging- Photo Check Deposit- Block / Unblock Card- ATM Finder- Two-Factor AuthenticationSimple's backend infrastructure was primarily written in Scala using the Dropwizard framework. However, we had several JVM microservices running Clojure and JRuby. Everything was hosted in Amazon's Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).As a financial institution the security of our customer's data was paramount. I worked closely with our internal security group on threat modeling and mitigation.
