As a Primary Care Paramedic, this role is crucial in ensuring the effective and safe provision of medical care to remote idigenous communities. The responsibilities encompass providing Primary Care support within a nursing station, assisting with patient care and clinic visits. As well this role provides emergency support for the community, providing community response, emergency treatment, and organizing effective transport out of community to hospitals.

Function as a member of a team on a fixed wing air response unit. Assist ACP partners in assuring the safety of patients and in treatment plans for patients being transferred by Air Ambulance. Operate all on-board non-flight related equipment including Patient Monitors, Oxygen Delivery Devices, EMS communications radios, and all other EMS related gear. Write and format Patient Care Reports on various agency deployments. Ensure that our kits and gear are functioning and stocked prior to deployments. Participate in continuing education as required.

Within this role, I work as a contract medical instructor providing certification courses such as First Aid, Advanced First Aid, and Basic Life Support to the regional fire service. I also assist with education of Live Scenarios utilizing standardized patients, and building upon the knowledge that firefighters need for responding as Medical First Responders in cooperation with Alberta Health Services.

Within this multifaceted role the Lab Coordinator for the Nursing Education & Health Studies department covers the following tasks: Planning and Implementation of the learning plan for the student learning labs by setting up equipment, coordinating available supplies and equipment, and setting up technology to achieve learning outcomes. Facility and Space Management through room access, booking, and coordinating with the facilities and maintenance team. Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders through a working relationship with NWP and AHS. Project planning with instructors to ensure a clear plan for the semester with student lab and simulation set up. Stock and Inventory management through coordinating ordering through vendors utilizing the MATADOR platform with Purchase Order creation, and budget management. This role also assists other departments such as IT through equipment disbursement and subject matter expert for simulation equipment and software, Marketing through the SignageLive platform by uploading and creating digital marketing and graphics, and through the internal communications for students and faculty (creating social media posts for internal Facebook group). This position also assists our Learning Commons with Proctoring examinations, and liaison between campuses for and our Learning Commons. While in this role, the position has also assisted with Project Management in setting up the Health Education Centre within the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and setting up our Fairview campus labs and classrooms.

COVID-19 support - Testing for COVID-19 and trained in COVID-19 vaccine administration. Working in a clinic setting within Public Health division. Assisted with OH&S committee, and team coordination for congregate site visits.

As the Vehicle Equipment Supply Service Technician (VESST) my primary role was to ensure that all EMS vehicles received required preventative maintenance, ensured that supplies and equipment were functioning for EMS crews, assisted with maintenance on equipment, and assisted with other duties related to the EMS stations.

As a Primary care paramedic (PCP) I was responsible for transporting ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. I also treated patients by administering some medications, utilizing basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and engaging in other skills under my scope of practice.

Instructor for the HSFRT program within North Zone EMS. This program allows high school students an introductory education into Paramedicine, and allows credits towards their graduation diploma. Students are taught critical thinking, and intervention for emergencies at their school.

Within my work portfolio, I was the PR and Event team lead for Area 2 of North West Zone EMS

I worked as part of the supervised consumption team, providing medical care to clients. While in this role I also provided education on harm reduction, and assisted with community supports.

While working for APL I was able to work with Special Events providing medical standby, ground EMS providing Emergency Medical Services within Cadotte Lake, and Air MEDEVAC services based out of Peace River.
