CV on-line at http://www.twhall.com/I have professional and doctoral degrees in architecture (M.Arch., Arch.D.) and more than 40 years experience in software development for computer aided architectural design, geometric modeling, building information modeling, systems analysis, scientific visualization, human-computer interaction, virtual and augmented reality.In my current position in the University of Michigan Duderstadt Center, I receive models from across the spectrum of disciplines, in a wide variety of mesh, voxel, and point-cloud formats. This has included: archaeology, architecture, art, atmospheric sciences, biochemistry, bioinformatics, civil engineering, dentistry, geography (GIS), geology, life sciences, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, medicine, music, performing arts technology, physics, and possibly some others I'm forgetting at the moment. It's my job to help faculty, staff, and students visualize, explore, and interact with their models in virtual reality with a minimum of fuss on their part. They should be able to work with the modeling tools of choice in their respective disciplines without distraction by arcane details of how the bits get from those models into an immersive stereoscopic surround-sound display. But if they want to know, I'm happy to explain it.In my other life, I'm deeply involved in space architecture. My doctoral dissertation (1994) examined "The Architecture of Artificial-Gravity Environments for Long-Duration Space Habitation." I continue to write and present occasional peer-reviewed technical papers on that topic. I was a founding member of the Space Architecture Technical Committee (SATC) in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), from its first inception as a "working group" in 1998, and chaired the SATC during 2010-2014. I've also chaired the Space Architecture sessions at the annual International Conference on Environmental Systems (ICES), during 2007-2010 and 2013-2014.
