I make no claim to be the world’s foremost authority on IT recruitment, if such a thing even exists. What I do offer, however, is the distilled knowledge gained from a lifetime of experience working as a recruiter and with recruiters and those they serve, from every conceivable aspect.After gaining a BS in Computer Science in the 1986 I worked as an IT contractor, developing programs in C, Oracle and other languages. In 1992 I moved to San Francisco and co-founded AT Systems, a full service IT staffing agency, specializing in Oracle products. This company grew rapidly and at the time it was acquired, in 1997, employed over 200 active IT consultants.During this time, I started working on a generalized applicant tracking software system that would be a fit for multiple types of staffing agencies. That system grew into EZAccess, which became one of the leading products of its kind in the US. Eventually EZacess would go on to be sold to over 500 staffing companies, ranging in size from 5 user systems to companies in the Top 10 in the US. The widespread adoption rate of EZAccess led to the HR version of the product. Before the products were eventually sold, the company grew to over 400 employees worldwide, with offices in North America, Europe and Australia and one the largest user communities of any recruitment system in the world. Our clients included some of the biggest names in both the staffing industry, CDI in the US and Reed in Europe, and some of America’s most recognizable corporations, Disney, Wells Fargo and Walmart, to name but a few. After a brief stint as a consultant to several start-ups I returned to the industry in 2007 and co-founded another successful staffing agency, PT Systems, which continues to grow and provides me, if you like, with my ‘day job.’In my current role, as in all my previous roles, I have always strived to make the recruiters who worked with me, and for me, into the best that they can be.
