Bluefire Insurance is part of the Confie family of insurance brands. In my current position, I am primarily home-based out of Overland Park, Kansas and report directly to the company Head of Claims located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I provide leadership support and oversight to claims employees located in Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, California, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, and Tijuana, Mexico. *HIGHLIGHTS*▶︎ Responsible for companywide 1st party subrogation results. Since 2020 there has been a 92% increase in recoveries through enhanced oversight and aligned processes. This resulted in a bottom line improvement in profitability of ~$3.5M over a 12 month period (July 2021 - June 2022).▶︎ Reduced and contained over $5.0M in 3rd party subrogation demands in 2021 through property damage accuracy audits. As Vice President and Head of Claims, I had full accountability for losses that were produced by one of the company's 80,000 policyholders. These policies generated nearly $100 million in direct written premium and loss payouts approaching $60 million. Daily claims volume approached 100 features per day with over 4,500 in pending inventory that is handled by approximately 80 full-time employees. Outside of myself, the claims leadership group was comprised of a Director, five (5) Managers, and 11 Supervisors. My position reported directly to ownership and I would serve as a company officer and member of the company’s four-person executive leadership team. I worked cross-functionally with Risk Management, Legal, Underwriting, Marketing, Sales, Product, Operations, Information Technology, Recruiting, Human Resources, and other key stakeholders within the company.▶︎ Three (3) out of the last four (4) years my claims organization has contributed to a loss ratio that has met or exceeded the company goal of 64%. 2020 ended with the best loss ratio in company history at 46% or 18 points better than goal.▶︎ Early in role, I identified photo estimating as a method of inspection for first-party and third-party vehicle damage claims. This resulted in a 25% reduction in ALAE spend and improved estimate accuracy that outperformed industry peers.▶︎ I quickly identified leadership talent that set the foundation for a viable and strong succession plan. ▶︎ Transformed the organizational structure into one where there is complete accountability and ownership for the claims handling resulting in reduced cycle times, increased customer satisfaction, accurate settlements, and increased employee engagement.▶︎ I created internal programs, including a claims trainee program, that allowed us to develop talent from within.▶︎ The 2020 claims employee work environment satisfaction index at 88% is at its highest level ever.

Early Career▶︎ I started my career at Progressive Insurance Company and quickly ascended through the claims management ranks including Manager, Regional Manager, and Process Leader.▶︎ I was responsible for and directed multiple claims offices of various sizes across several states and venues. The largest being a 260-member claims organization that supported a workload approaching 300 claims per day and 4,500 in pending inventory generated by 300,000+ policies in effect that included auto, commercial auto, and specialty products.▶︎ I was selected to be the first process leader in a $1+ Billion premium state and reported directly to the Head of Claims. ▶︎ My claims organization had one of the highest file quality audits in the U.S. As a result, I was asked to guest speak on the topic at a national convention.▶︎ I was accountable for claims outcomes in perhaps some of the most difficult venues in the U.S. that included Florida, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
