Vice President ClaimsTraders Insurance Company Aug 2016 - Feb 2021Kansas City, Mo, UsAs Vice President and Head of Claims, I had full accountability for losses that were produced by one of the company's 80,000 policyholders. These policies generated nearly $100 million in direct written premium and loss payouts approaching $60 million. Daily claims volume approached 100 features per day with over 4,500 in pending inventory that is handled by approximately 80 full-time employees. Outside of myself, the claims leadership group was comprised of a Director, five (5) Managers, and 11 Supervisors. My position reported directly to ownership and I would serve as a company officer and member of the company’s four-person executive leadership team. I worked cross-functionally with Risk Management, Legal, Underwriting, Marketing, Sales, Product, Operations, Information Technology, Recruiting, Human Resources, and other key stakeholders within the company.▶︎ Three (3) out of the last four (4) years my claims organization has contributed to a loss ratio that has met or exceeded the company goal of 64%. 2020 ended with the best loss ratio in company history at 46% or 18 points better than goal.▶︎ Early in role, I identified photo estimating as a method of inspection for first-party and third-party vehicle damage claims. This resulted in a 25% reduction in ALAE spend and improved estimate accuracy that outperformed industry peers.▶︎ I quickly identified leadership talent that set the foundation for a viable and strong succession plan. ▶︎ Transformed the organizational structure into one where there is complete accountability and ownership for the claims handling resulting in reduced cycle times, increased customer satisfaction, accurate settlements, and increased employee engagement.▶︎ I created internal programs, including a claims trainee program, that allowed us to develop talent from within.▶︎ The 2020 claims employee work environment satisfaction index at 88% is at its highest level ever. -
