I am a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tennessee. My research focuses on how we can create 21st century materials to be used in current and advanced nuclear reactor designs using additive manufacturing (3D printing) in hopes of bringing nuclear energy into the modern age. Basically, I get paid to use really powerful lasers to melt metal designed to work in a nuclear reactor. Then I get to cut it up and use fancy microscopes to see if what I thought would happen actually happened. I am a current IUP/NEUP Fellow. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. My research interests include materials development and materials processing development with a focus on nuclear applications and the use of additive manufacturing. I have experience with electron microscopy, sample preparation, high vacuum systems, and high-energy lasers.
