I play a key role in strategic planning for the Institute, staying abreast of trends at external funding agencies and similar institutes/centers within and outside Notre Dame to advise the Director on Institute priorities, grant programs, hiring, and procedures. I help set goals for the Institute and determine metrics for progress. I also support efforts to build research capacity at the university level, while coordinating a wide range of programming and resources to help faculty identify funding sources, connect with program officers, find collaborators, make progress on research projects, and prepare competitive proposals. I develop and supervise internal seed funding programs, including drafting requests for proposals, building research teams, providing feedback on drafts, reviewing submitted proposals, and managing funding targets. I have further supported fundraising efforts to ensure the longevity and vitality of the Institute and have helped researchers win grants and highly prestigious fellowships from sponsors including the Canada Arts Council, the J.S. Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Humanities Without Walls (subaward through Mellon Foundation), Fulbright, and the Getty Research Institute.

Working primarily in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, I help researchers develop and manage their projects, find collaborators, and apply for external grants and fellowships. I'm also involved in grant-making, as I help develop new internal seed funding programs and solicit and evaluate proposals. I organize several training programs throughout the academic year to help researchers connect to program officers and hone grant-writing skills.

In addition to teaching a wide range of courses, I managed large, long-term qualitative research projects and published findings. I regularly gave presentations about my research at conferences and invited talks. I organized conferences, writing groups, and workshops to promote collaboration across disciplines and institutions. I also helped evaluate proposals for internal and external funding and reviewed manuscripts for academic journals.
