In 1986, I volunteered for the first time at an urban gymnasium. The rule was that you could only enter the gym upon hearing a lesson. This way of using activity to motivate other important learnings technically worked, but I mostly witnessed begrudging participation and boredom. Audiences were engaged, invigorated, excited. One day it hit me -- what if I could bring the potent magic of entertainment from our theme park shows (Sea World for 3 yrs.) to the motivational techniques of the gym? What if I could do so in a way that made lessons intriguing and exciting? CoreFire was born in 1995. Those youth strategies of 30 years ago? Many of them are still used today. They work for some, but aren't scalable in the way we desperately need. In a time of digital connectedness, mobile phones, and endless data, we need new approaches, new ideas, and new tools. Invented the sport of Freestyle Dunking. While cheerleading for Ole Miss, performed the first "flip dunk" on January 5, 1980, at an Ole Miss vs Bama basketball game in Tuscaloosa, AL. With my brother, Guy Cobb, we turned stunts into the first nationally touring halftime show. College roommate and the first Ole Miss mascot, Jeff Hubbard, negotiated sponsorship with Anheuser-Busch in 1984 beginning a 13-year relationship as the Bud Light Daredevils.
