The City has over 1800 staff, employed in over 50 locations and is responsible for $7 billion in assets. This role reports to the Director City Life and is responsible for the management of the City's social policy, programs, community facilities and services including: childcare, after school care, vacation care, homelessness, community centres, gyms, community venues, youth centres, over 55 centres, social policy, community programs, community transport, meals on wheels, food services and grants programs. The business unit has 250 staff, responsibility for 40 facilities and an annual operating budget of $20 million. Key achievements:• Designed and executed an organisational restructure across 6 business units impacting 250 staff to provide better community outcomes, business integration and strategic alignment.• Coordinated the closure of a state wide call centre that had operated for 30 years as a result of NSW Government Homelessness Reforms impacting 15 staff. Through the change program all impacted staff were either permanently redeployed to ongoing budgeted positions at the City or had taken voluntary redundancy by the time of closure.• Developed a new strategic plan to guide the development of the business unit, including a comprehensive overhaul of performance measurement tools to align with results based accountability that has resulted in increased occupation of community facilities; improvements to quality of life outcomes for program participants; increased knowledge and awareness in the community of City services; and increased revenue.

This role reports to the Executive Manager Research, Strategy and Corporate Planning and is the leader of a team of 5 people responsible for the design, management and delivery of a range of strategy and economic development projects associated with the City’s overarching long term vision Sustainable Sydney 2030.Key achievements: • Coordinated the Sydney is Fashion program that brought together Sydney Fashion Festival, Vogue Fashion Night Out and History Week to deliver a range of events across a 3 week program estimated to generate economic activity and visitation of over 100,000 people in the City of Sydney Local Government Area.• Developed major sponsorship agreements with Destination NSW and external partners for conference events including; Hannover Fairs for CeBIT; TEDx; The World Conference on Lung Cancer and Microsoft for the Imagine Cup that resulted in over 10,000 conference delegates and over 50,000 conference visitors to the City. • Prepared the draft Tourism Action Plan which outlined 91 actions aimed at increasing inbound domestic and international tourism activity in the City and destination development focused on maintaining Sydney’s position as Australia’s number one tourism and business destination. The Action Plan was endorsed by Council and supported by the NSW Tourism industry stakeholders.• Led the development of the City’s 101 Community Wellbeing Indicators and 164 Measures in partnership with the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney, that track the progress of the City and its residents across environment, cultural, social, economic and governance issues. The indicators and measures guide the City’s operational delivery program, monitor improvements to the quality of life of the City’s residents and inform the work of other government agencies.

This role reports to the Director City Life and is responsible for the management of over 120 staff who provide services; in the City's 9 branch libraries and 2 library links that have over 1 million annual loans, 1.2 million annual visitors and an annual operating budget of $5 million; the City’s $11 Grants and Sponsorship Program and History and Curatorial teams including the City’s $6 million Civic Collection. Key achievements • Negotiated major new multi-year sponsorship agreements between the City and the Sydney Film Festival and the Sydney Fringe Festival that sought to enrich the City’s cultural offer, develop creative industries, position Sydney as a global city and increase economic activity in the City through increased interstate and international visitation. The events achieved the goals and objectives identified in their sponsorship agreements and importantly increased visitation and participation by over 20% during the term of the agreement resulting in the engagement of new audiences and increased economic activity. • Led the development, change management program and implementation of a new customer and employee library IT system called Aurora, which replaced the existing system that had been in operation for 15 years. The new system focussed on improving search functionality, database management, customer requests and book selection. The new system was well received by staff and customers who felt informed and supported during the transition period. • Led the development of a new electronic database system for the management of the 3000+ items in the City’s Civic Collection which assisted in the first formal valuation of the collection in over 5 years. The process resulted in the identification of items which were previously thought to be lost; the formal recording of many items which had not been previously catalogued; and a valuation increase to the collection of close to $1 million.

The design and analysis has enabled participating Councils and private sector land owners to progress development opportunities inclusive of affordable housing that could achieve over 400 additional affordable housing dwellings for low income workers.

This role reported to both the Group Manager Strategic Planning and the Group Manager Community Services and managed a small team of 3 people that was responsible for:• The development and coordination of the City’s Developer Contributions Plan (Section 94) which outlined the purposes for which levies were to be collected from new development to provide for new infrastructure to meet the needs of the increased population resulting from the development. This plan outlined works with a delivery value of $158 million.• The design, delivery and evaluation of community engagement, community development programs and grant funded activities focused on promoting social inclusion and building resilience within the community.• The development and implementation of the City’s Social Plan and associated action plans which focused on the implementation of actions which sought to reduce social disadvantage amongst key target populations within the community and address key social issues. Key achievements:• Managed the development of an Open Space, Recreation and Community Facilities Needs study to inform the City’s new Section 94 Development Contributions Plan and Community Strategic Plan. This study enabled Council to ensure adequate planning, levy collection and resource allocation for community infrastructure delivery as the population increased over the next 20 years.• Won and project managed the Commonwealth Government Grant Funded program, Communities for Children, worth $330,000. The projects and programs developed with this funding focused on early intervention, information provision and support for children 0-5 and their families and carers which resulted in improved outcomes in relation to community participation, awareness of services, child and family health, parent confidence and human services sector collaboration.
