Ty is a respected adviser, writer, and founder of the Education Foundation, an organisation focused on reform, technology & innovation across education. Ty leads strategic body, Edtech UK, accelerating the UK's edtech sector and globally. Recently elected to Brighton & Hove City Council, now a Cabinet Advisor, he leads on economic development and represents a ward in East BrightonChair and Board Director at community champions, East Brighton Trust.The Education Foundation launched in November 2011, at the House of Lords. Ty was cited in Evening Standard list of London's most influential people for an unprecedented three years. Ty founded influential public/private sector membership charity, British Council for School Environments, transforming the organisation from social enterprise, SchoolWorks. He pioneered service co-location of schools as Brighton & Hove Council’s Schools Strategic Manager.Ty was an adviser to the DfE and Government on Extended Schools and co-location of services. Articles published in the TES, Independent, Times, Guardian, FT & appeared on BBC, Sky News, BBC Radio 4 & 5In 1998 Ty elected to Lambeth Council - immediately became Chair of Education. In two inspections, OFSTED remarked that there had been steady improvements in the Local Education Authority and it was unrecognisable from the 'days of despair'. Major Primary and SEN reorganisation in the Borough ensured that many new schools were built. Ty has worked as the UK and European Public Affairs adviser for the NSPCC, lobbying around child protection issues and a member of the team behind the 'Full Stop' Campaign. He also worked as the first National Campaigns Co-ordinator for Scope, the disability charity and has been a school governor. Ty speaks at and chairs a number of national and international conferences for a range of bodies and clients. Awarded the American Institute for Architects Medal for Design Leadership, for his services to school design across the globe. He's a strong, corporate and adaptable leader with effective communication skills, experience of senior management in the private sector, local government and voluntary sector.
