At the ERHPL, studies are conducted in order to assess how environmental stressors affect the body and how we can mitigate these stressors as a way to keep people safe and improve their work performance. Most of these studies have military or first responder application where these individuals have to endure intense environmental conditions.We use a variety of different stressors to simulate environmental conditions including a hyperbaric chamber, environmental chamber, and a pool as a way to get information of how water, air, and heat affect the body differently. This research is achieved by the collection of different physiological variables such as RER, VO2, heart rate, and core temperature.
