Spatial Ecologist
CurrentI help CLLC and its partners develop and apply scientific tools that inform landscape-level conservation, with a focus on preserving landscape connectivity for wildlife populations and mitigating impacts of climate change. Examples of recent projects include:• Identifying areas of greatest conflict between wildlife and vehicles in the Northern Rockies, as well as solutions that promote wildlife connectivity and human safety• Forecasting impacts of changing climatic conditions and vegetation phenology on grassland wildlife species in the southwestern U.S.• Reviewing three decades of global connectivity conservation planning efforts to identify traits that lead to successful implementation of actions to promote connectivity• Modeling connectivity for wildlife in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to allow National Forests to better incorporate ecological connectivity concerns in the forest planning process• Mapping opportunities for cross-realm conservation actions that simultaneously address terrestrial and aquatic conservation objectives• Exploring differences in ecological and sociopolitical context of presidential national monuments versus other federal protected areas
