As a Mechanical Engineering Technician I was able to improve my modeling ability in both Revit and AutoCAD, as well as my ability to use design programs (HAP and CAPS) to make informed decisions while designing preliminary layouts for both plumbing and mechanical systems. I continued to coordinate project advancements with other disciplines (Electrical and Arch) with heightened focus on sizing and selecting of fixtures and equipment. I continued to go along on site visits with senior engineers as well as going on some alone. I was present in design and progress meetings and was expected to have updates on the projects I was a part of. Finally I attended multiple industry manufacturer presentations to continue my education of product knowledge.

As an engineering aide I was introduced to Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, CAPS, and Michigan's Plumbing and Mechanical code. During this internship I was encouraged to assist in the coordination between the different engineering disciplines and accompany senior engineers on site visits. I gained a basic understanding of the plumbing and mechanical design process and at the end of the internship was offered a position as a mechanical engineering technition.
