It was an honor to serve as the WWTA commissioner for the people of Red Bank. As commissioner, my fellow board members and I were responsible for the management and oversight of millions of dollars in assets related to the county water and waste-water system, as well as providing this valuable resource for the many residents of Hamilton County. It was a pleasure to work with Beth and Larry Dahlenberg as they opened their new store in Vernon Hills. They were wonderful mentors and experienced leaders who challenged themselves greatly by taking on a new opportunity - a great lesson to learn at a young age. I worked in a couple of different roles during my time at CFA Vernon Hills. I was brought in through their Leadership Development program, working in marketing and community relations. Our store was brand new, so initially I focused on community awareness and building relationships with other business owners in the Vernon Hills area. After opening, I moved into one of the Director of Hospitality roles, primarily running the afternoon and evening/dinner shifts. My areas of responsibility included:-Hiring various staff members for the front of the house-Scheduling-Overseeing general operations in the restaurant and drive-thru with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and courtesy-Managing a staff of 20-25 employees-Inventory management-Controlling labor hours-Mediating conflict-Proficiency with various types of quick service equipment-Interacting with customers (both angry and satisfied)-Counting and depositing money-Working with owners to elevate certain employees to Team Leads/Supervisors

The Kern Fellowship Graduate Assistant Program matched Master's level students with professors to help them with their various responsibilities. In this position I worked with Prof. Bill Donahue on a number of different projects. Part of the program included a mentor component, and Bill proved to be kind, thoughtful, and interested in my development. I appreciate the wisdom he dispensed as we discussed some of his previous experience, and his words helped me through a difficult time I was experiencing during seminary. Responsibilities included:-Helping structure the curriculum for the course 'Christian Leadership', including literature selection, assignments, and classroom activities-Substituted on a number of occasions for Bill in undergraduate classes-Research contribution for a book Bill was writing-Research on current trends in leadership, org. development, church polity and leadership, small groups and teams

I was honored to be selected by Dr. Craig Williford to be his research assistant while he was President of the University. Throughout my time working with Craig, I worked mostly with various projects he needed to complete as opposed to daily tasks. The largest project I completed was a comprehensive comparison of how other high level theological universities were implementing and using technology, online options, and decentralized formats to keep up enrollment numbers and expand their student base - this project was ultimately presented to the Board of Directors as a part of the strategic plan. As a general note, Craig and I had many discussions about leading people and organizations, especially through crisis and change. Through this experience, I learned some very important lessons about institutional power, the long term and significant effects of culture, management of various factions and groups (faculty, staff, students, etc), and how to step away from something with dignity and grace. Craig was a wonderful mentor to me and I'm thankful for his wisdom.

I worked part-time at CPAC while working on my Master's degree. It was a great job and I really enjoyed the people I worked with. My responsibilities included overseeing the fitness floor, interacting with members, and general maintenance. I also had a number of clients I trained on a regular basis, designing and implementing programs for their optimal health and performance.
