Member of Dr. Marcus Kaul's lab in the Biomedical Science Department:- Developed ACCT, an accessible open-source tool that acts as an automated pipeline to quickly analyze datasets of immunofluoresence images following user driven training of machine learning models. Developed to work within ImageJ. Programmed primarily in Python and BeanShell, a Java scripting language.- Currently studying the genetic relation between IL1RN and disease severity in HIV associated neurocognitive disorders. Currently investing the potential of IL1RN for treatment of HIV.- Currently studying the underlying pathways of Bipolar Disorder and its subtypes. I was an instructional assistant for CSE 100: Advanced Data Structures at University of California San Diego. I tutored students in the class and assist with the creation and grading of programming assignments. I reviewed students' code to assist them with bug fixing errors quickly.

I was part of an undergraduate research program that worked to improve a system of measuring the accuracy of tools that simulate the transmission of HIV in communities. The simulation built a connected network of individuals and accurately predicts the spread of HIV when compared real data. The focus of the paper attempts to determine the efficacy of different HIV prediction models in their ability to accurately predict the individuals who are most likely to transmit HIV to others. The paper has been accepted and published at BMC Medical Informatics.Additionally, I formally worked in a Bioinformatics lab with Professor Chi-Hua Chen at UC San Diego who analyzes brain structures to find genetic links to neuropsychiatric disorders. At the time, I worked on a project that will tried and classify single nucleotide polymorphisms as predictors for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia using machine learning models.
