As an intern during my summer in 2013, I worked in the drilling department at Black Elk Energy Offshore Operations, LLC. My summer project included a MRWO program for a well in the GOM (shelf) with cost estimates upwards of $11MM. While working on this program I developed a procedure, an AFE, and economic estimates for the MRWO.

During my internship in 2012, I worked for Black Elk Energy, LLC as an Offshore Production Intern. While working for this company, I spent my time offshore in the GOM working a 14/14 schedule at approximately 72+ hours a week. My summer consisted of overseeing well work including work-over programs. These programs consisted of slick-line, e-line, and re-completing several perforations. While offshore, I worked on multiple platforms including satellite platforms. I gained valuable hands on experience including work with the operators and contractors. This experience created a better understanding of what happens out in the field. As a team, we worked together to bring several platforms back on line. Other work included a change out of a compressor, generator maintenance, replacing varying valves throughout the platform, and testing various safety equipment.

While working for Artex Oil Company as a Roustabout Technician, I performed roustabout work including: building pumping units, placing equipment on site, painting tanks/units/etc., installing house meters, replacing pipe lines and fixing blockages. I committed myself to a full time schedule with a minimum of 50 hours per week. I worked the first summer for this company, and enjoyed the learning experience so much that I decided to spend my winter break working for them too. One of the key events that occurred during the winter happened to be an oil tank explosion. I was on location that day, but luckily we were working on tank's pumping unit a significant distance away. I had the opportunity to take part in the containment and clean up of the accident and that experience was very advantageous. During my time at Artex Oil, I maintained a steady work load. I also developed a great work ethic, and began to understand the importance of having a vast background in the industry. This internship created a strong desire to focus on my coursework.
