Managed science communication for the Plant-Soil-Environment Laboratory at FRESC. Read scientific literature and technical reports, interviewed principal scientists, and published ten articles on USGS’s Drupal showcasing the lab’s research on adaptive management. The lab is also referred to as the Fire, Invasion, and Ecology in Sagebrush Steppe (FIREss) lab.Copy edited and proofread USGS articles by scientists and members of the communication team. Became a research affiliate at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, actively participated in fieldwork to aid in terrestrial ecosystem research by setting up, deploying, and taking measurements using scientific instruments such as a hyperspectral imager, porometer and thermal imager.Initiated the lab’s public s outreach program by creating a TikTok and Instagram account for the lab, documented fieldwork, conducted interviews with lab members and relevant community members involved in the research, created educational videos to explain the lab’s research to the public which currently have received over 7000 views.Delivered a poster presentation on effective science communication at the American Geophysical Union’s Fall Conference in Chicago, instructing dozens of scientists on how to leverage social media for science communication. I also prospected potential donors by researching donor history of other campaigns and created contact sheets describing key talking points and what donation value should be asked for.
