My career and experiences can be separated into two main areas:1) For the last ~6 years, I have worked in the healthcare and life sciences space as a software engineer. Like many others, healthcare has had a significant impact on my life, and I was drawn to the industry for the opportunity to make a difference. Over the last several years, I have predominantly worked on cloud application development. In addition, I've also worked on natural language processing and legacy application development. What I enjoy most about modern agile cloud development is the ability to rapidly iterate and deliver results quickly.2) My undergraduate education at Penn State was very low-level, and my work as a research assistant reflected that. During my time at Penn State, I predominantly worked on embedded systems. I was responsible for developing prototypes, mostly interfacing various sensors/devices with microcontrollers and microcomputers. Many of these prototypes also included an Android, Windows, or Linux application component. What I most enjoy about embedded systems programming is the chance to get "down to the hardware" and develop fast, tightly integrated devices.
